The CREW from the church team at Turramurra Music have put this site together to serve as a simple resource for the Australian church when it comes to all things church audio.
This site will be regularly updated with different training materials, reflections on navigating audio in the church space, and various resources we come across in our travels. We hope that it plays a part in equipping you, and your teams to serve your churches well in this space.
If you’d like to stay updated on all the latest content as it’s released, feel free to join our newsletter. In it, you’ll hear about the latest happenings, and gain access to exclusive deals on gear (if you’re into that kind of thing!)

A chap by the name of Jake runs a YouTube channel called Churchfront. There is plenty of stuff on his channel covering all sorts of interesting church sound topics. In the following video, Jake runs through his thoughts on setting up a live stream for smaller church contexts. This video gets bonus points as it was created before Covid-19 was a thing
The legendary Andrew Crawford (aka the Mix Wizard) has recently developed a series of YouTube videos outlining key mixing concepts and techniques. Andrew is the Australian Allen & Heath Product Manager and is an incredibly experienced sound engineer with deep expertise in the church space.
Andrew is a good friend of ours, regularly facilitating training sessions in house at Turramurra Music and supporting us with large Allen & Heath systems.
Check out his awesome content here. As a bit of a sample, below is a video on how Andrew builds a mix.
The words ‘strategic plan’ are enough to put any of us to sleep – and yet we need plans! Especially in church teams. We have limited time and resources, so a clear mission statement helps us clarify what to focus on.
Clarifying the ‘why / what / who / when / how’ helps us to sharpen our approach as a sound team as we seek to serve, grow, and flourish.
The crew over at churchproduction.com have put together a great little piece exploring this topic
“The goal is to come up with an objective that is targeted for your team while supporting the broader mission of the church. Specific wording makes it real—which affects whether it winds up as an abstract plaque on a wall or if it becomes the objective that your team owns, lives and celebrates.”
Lots more gold in the article. Enjoy!
Drummers have a lot of power! Their volume dictates the band’s volume. And how a sound engineer approaches the band mix.
This short video offers helpful ways for drummers to control their volume in order to serve the band, the engineer, and the congregation.
“I don’t know if there’s any secret to it other than having complete self-control… I approach every single drum differently.” (Josh Fisher)
Enjoy!
Another for drum land. Here are some fun ideas for drum mic placement with 1, 2, or 3 mics – a common scenario in churches.
The Tiny Desk concert series has hosted everyone from Taylor Swift to Gary Clarke Jr… they know how to make things sound great.
